Rofin designs and builds industrial lasers and systems
using their lasers for:
- Laser marking, laser etching and laser engraving. -
Typical applications include marking barcodes, ID matrices, graphics
and alphanumerics
onto metals, ceramics and plastics. Industries
served include automotive,
electronics,
medical device and packaging – including in-line coding.
- Laser
welding – spot and seam welds, either deep penetration
or microwelding. Typical applications include the repair and
manufacture of gold and platinum jewellery, surgical tool manufacture,
electronics
assembly, sensor welding and injection mould tool repair.
- Laser
cutting of metals and non-metals – including high
power lasers via fibre optic for robot manipulation and fine
tube cutting
turnkey laser systems. Applications at the high power range are
mainly in machine tool and automotive assembly applications.
At the lower
power range, medical devices such as stents and hypotubes are
laser cut from metal tubes in automated machines.
- Surface modification – ablation
of layers from substrates, annealing and heat treatment of carbon
steels and cast iron.
Applications include patterning and scribing of solar cells and
solar panels,
flat panel display manufacture, glass cutting and deep engraving
by laser erosion.
